CAPM Project Roles and Responsibilities” are essential to understanding how different members contribute to a project’s success. This task focuses on identifying the roles and responsibilities within a project team, including comparing and contrasting the roles of project managers and project sponsors. It also examines the distinctions between project team members and sponsors while highlighting the project manager’s role as an initiator, negotiator, listener, coach, working member, and facilitator. Additionally, the task explores the differences between leadership and management in project management and the impact of emotional intelligence (EQ) on effective project leadership.

The task ‘Demonstrate an understanding of project roles and responsibilities’ includes the following enablers:

  • Compare and contrast the roles and responsibilities of project managers and project sponsors.
  • Compare and contrast the roles and responsibilities of the project team and the project sponsor.
  • Explain the importance of the role the project manager plays (e.g., initiator, negotiator, listener, coach, working member, and facilitator).
  • Explain the differences between leadership and management.
  • Explain emotional intelligence (EQ) and its impact on project management.
