I have recently obtained my Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification and I would like to share my experience regarding the preparation process.
My main resource for preparation was the KnowledgeMap, and i can not imagine any better tool for this purpose.
Key advantages of KnowledgeMap:
- It provides a detailed comprehensive step-by-step guide and schedule for your preparation and application process, up to the date of your exam.
- The preparation program is divided into domains and topics (tasks). Each task provides you with exact references to specific sections of PMI standards (PMBOK, Process Groups PG, Agile PG etc.) that you should learn to master the topic. Thus, you prepare in a structured manner (instead of just reading all PMI standards in a row). Along with references to standards, you are provided with links to useful materials and videos that support your learning process.
- Upon completion of each topic (task), there is an opportunity to pass mini-exam to test your knowledge of the respective topic. After completing all topics, you can take a full-length PMP mock exam to assess the level of your readiness for the real exam. Moreover: you can take all mini-exams and full-length mock exam many times; you can have questions translated to your native language; the question base on KnowledgeMap is very extensive and the questions are similar to what you would see on the real exam; you can choose to take practice exams either in learning mode (where the correct answer and detailed explanation is immediately shown to you after you answer the question) or in testing mode (where the time is limited and the results are shown upon completion of the whole exam).
- KnowledgeMap provides detailed statistics on mastery of each topic, as well as your overall readiness for the exam. This allows you to pay attention to your weaknesses and adjust your preparation plan accordingly.
- In addition to PMP, KnowledgeMap also allows you to prepare for such certifications as: CAPM, PgMP, PfMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-PBA, PMI-RMP, PSM I and II, ISO 21502.
Considering all these factors combined, KnowledgeMap is a true helping hand for those thinking about getting PMP or other PMI certifications.
