Learn Program Delivery

The Program Delivery phase is the activities performed to produce the intended results of each component in accordance with the program management plan or roadmap.

The Program Delivery phase of the program life cycle includes the following tasks:

  1. Identify and Manage Unresolved Project-Level Issues: Establish a monitoring and escalation mechanism to achieve program benefits realization.
  2. Develop the Benefits Management Plan: Include benefits integration, transition, and sustainment with defined exit criteria.
  3. Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Use decomposition/mapping to implement scope and quality management within the program.
  4. Monitor Human Resources: Identify opportunities to improve team motivation and negotiate contracts.
  5. Charter and Initiate Constituent Projects/Components: Assign project managers and allocate resources to achieve program objectives.
  6. Establish Consistency: Deploy governance framework, standards, resources, tools, and processes for informed decision-making.
  7. Establish a Communication Feedback Plan: Create a reporting process to capture lessons learned and team experiences.
  8. Lead Human Resource Functions: Train, coach, mentor, and recognize the team to improve engagement and commitment.
  9. Review Project Managers’ Performance: Maximize their contribution to achieving program goals.
  10. Execute Program Management Plans: Use identified tools to ensure program outcomes align with the strategy.
  11. Consolidate Project and Program Data: Use predefined tools and methods to monitor and control performance and communicate to stakeholders.
  12. Evaluate Program’s Status: Monitor and control the program while maintaining current information.
  13. Approve Closure of Constituent Projects/Components: Ensure scope compliance upon completion of defined deliverables.
  14. Analyze Variances and Trends: Identify corrective actions or opportunities by comparing actual and forecast to planned values.
  15. Update Program Plans: Incorporate corrective actions to meet objectives and deliver benefits.
  16. Manage Program-Level Issues: Identify and select actions consistent with program scope, constraints, and objectives.
  17. Manage Changes: Control scope, quality, schedule, cost, contracts, risks, and rewards per the change management plan.
  18. Conduct Impact Assessments: Recommend decisions for approval per the governance framework.
  19. Manage Risk: Ensure benefits realization per the risk management plan.
