After PMI approves your PMP® application, it will notify you that you can pay the certification fee through your PMI.org account.
Do not pay until PMI confirms that your application can move forward. If your application was selected for audit, complete the audit process first. You can continue to payment only after PMI confirms that the audit was successfully completed.
Before paying, check whether your PMI membership is active. If you plan to use PMI member pricing, make sure your membership is active before you pay the PMP® certification fee. Prices, discounts, taxes, and regional conditions may change, so always confirm the current amount on PMI.org before payment.
If you need exam accommodations, request them during the payment process before scheduling your exam. You should wait until PMI reviews and approves the accommodation request before selecting your exam appointment.
After your payment is processed, PMI will send your PMI Eligibility ID and exam scheduling instructions. You will use this eligibility information to schedule your PMP® exam with the authorized exam provider.
Payment does not complete the certification process. It allows you to move to the exam scheduling stage. After payment, you still need to schedule the exam, continue preparing, take the exam, and receive your result.
After your application is approved and payment is processed, you normally have a one-year eligibility period to take the PMP® exam. During this period, you may attempt the exam up to three times if needed. Retake fees may apply for second and third attempts.
Do not pay too early if you are not ready to continue. Refund rules, cancellation rules, and eligibility-period limits may apply. If your eligibility period expires before you take the exam, you may lose the exam fee and need to reapply.
Before scheduling or taking the exam, PMI may also require identity verification according to its current certification and exam delivery process. Make sure the name in your PMI.org profile matches your government-issued identification document.
After payment is completed and PMI sends your eligibility information, return to KnowledgeMap, mark this step as completed, and continue to the exam scheduling step in your certification process.
